Job Description

In the role of a Finance Manager at American Express, the responsibility for handling financial operations comes with maintaining the business’s short-term and long-term financial objectives. As part of your duties, you will keep management informed and offer them the various alternatives to make use of based on the best financial insights and analyses prepared by you.

Action Points

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Build up detailed budgets, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis to provide information on how the company is performing.
  • Interdepartmental Relations: Work with the business leaders in charge of different teams to facilitate the development of activities, investments, and goal achievements.
  • Strategic Reporting: Carry out the production of reports and presentations of the highest quality which can give a clear picture of financial trends and risks to executives.
  • Operations Improvements: Spot opportunities for improvements and implement them in financial systems, tools, and procedures to uplift the efficiency level.
  • Risk & Compliance: Keep an eye on financial controls, internal policies, and compliance with global accounting standards.
  • Leadership in the Group: Guide, mentor, and teach analysts and junior finance staff, thus creating an environment of professional growth and socialization of good people interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar field (MBA or CPA preferable).
  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
  • Mastery of financial planning, modeling, and analysis.
  • The ability to use technology such as Excel, SAP, Hyperion, or other financial systems to your advantage.
  • The ability to communicate effectively through the written word and speech and can effortlessly demonstrate the results to the senior management team.
